Octoberfest Beer Stein Workshop
to Benefit Halos for Angels @Madison Mud

Friday, October 12; 6:30pm or 8:15pm

Just in time for Octoberfest, Clay artist Maddie Berry will help you create a unique BEER STEIN! Using slabs, coils and your favorite textures, she will guide you through the process of creating your Beer Mug.  Traditional or Whimsical..whatever you can conjure up! You may return to glaze your creation at a later time. No Clay experience necessary.

$10 of every Stein made will go to Halos for Angels.

$50 per person

Jack O Lantern Workshop @ Mud

Boonton Main Street organized some awesome scary tours. You can choose 2 different times. But before or after your tour. Stop by Boonton Mud to create your own scary Jack O Lantern that will NEVER Rot. Pinch, slip, score and decorate your clay “pumpkin” and place it in a scary graveyard!
$40 per person- If we glaze it for you..$15 additional to return and glaze yourself
materials, tools, glaze and SNACKS included!

Our clay artist will guide you in building your own unique yarn bowl using coils, slabs, textures and scoring and slipping! Choose your Glaze color and pick up in 3 weeks ready for your favorite skein of yarn. No experience necessary.

It is the season of warm sweaters, falling leaves and family holidays. Join us to build a 12” Leaf Serving Bowl for your Thanksgiving Table. Our clay artists will guide you to handbuild a leaf bowl using real leaves for templates, slabs, scoring and slipping. Choose a glaze and pick up in time for your holiday meal. $10 of every project will be donated to the NJ Highlands Coalition
$60 per artists, includes materials, tools, glaze and snacks. BYOB

Cylinder Bootcamp

The cylinder is the basic skill for most forms we create. We are often too quick to jump ahead without teaching our body and brain how to make the perfect cylinder. Here is your chance! Sign up for this cylinder intensive and attempt to throw 15-20 PERFECT cylinders..(yeah right). Set your goal - maybe a matching set, or a sized order set. We will be timing ourselves and challenging ourselves. Artist will keep 4 cylinders of their choice. Additional firing fees of .06/cubic inch will be added for additional wanted pots.

Cracked Pots @ Madison Mud

Love texture?  Wonder how artists have enough patience to carve all those lines?  Secret revealed: Sodium Silicate! 
Spend the afternoon with clay artist and Madison Mud Owner, Melanie Tomaszewski throwing pots and "cracking them" with Sodium Silicate, Slip and a heat gun! Have fun experimenting with this cool technique.

Workshop includes 10lbs of clay, materials, firing fees and glaze. Each attendee goes home with their own pint of Sodium Silicate to keep the experimentation going! Return to glaze at your leisure.

Some throwing experience is required, Fee includes up to 15lbs clay. Ages 16 and above.

$85 for members • $125 for non members


 

BIG POT Workshop

Join us for a  1-day workshop concentrating on BIG POTS. Tired of the 2 lb bowls? Have enough mugs? Struggling to GO BIGGER? This workshop is for you.

Learn to prepare clay for larger vessels, center and throw larger than your safe zone.  Return at your own leisure to glaze.

Experience in throwing necessary. Must be able to center clay with ease and be competent in the basics of throwing a cylinder. Workshop includes clay, use of tools, glazes and firing of 2 large pots. Additional firing fees will apply to additional pots of .06 cents/cubic inch. Ages 16 and above.

$150 for members • $190 for non members

Press Mold Workshop @Boonton Mud
Sat, July 28 12pm-4pm

Join us for this one day workshop. Artists will learn about the process of press mold making. Learn to create a relief tile (approx 8 x 8)  for press mold and will also bring found objects to also use for an additional mold. You will finish with Two 8 x 8  molds to allow you to reproduce your texture/object/design over and over. We will teach you haw to maintain the mold for years of use.
Fees include plaster, mold materials, slip and pizza! Firing Fees & clay for reproductions additional.

Slip Cast Mold Making Workshop @Boonton Mud
Sat. 8/4 and Sat. 8/11, 12pm-4pm

Join John for an 8 hr workshop day. You will learn about the process of  slip casting. First session we'll will learn about the process of building a slip mold. Choosing the right shape, prepping the piece and the process of making the mold. First Mold will be poured Second session will involve releasing the first cast and pouring a second one. We will teach you haw to maintain the mold for years of use. 
Fees include plaster, mold materials, slip and pizza! Firing Fees additional.
