Clay Artist | Studio Tech

I love the monumental malleability of clay-it can be shaped and formed with an organic flair or with the utmost precision. Clay also has a mind of its own -give it what it wants, it will bend to your will; overwork it or be careless with it, it will break your heart.

After a decade of working in high volume production studios, I decided to focus more time on making my own work. I joined Mud because I wanted to be in an environment that focused more on community and fostering experimentation and exploration.

Having a community is important because it is easy to get stuck in the same ways of making. The clay community is always a treasure trove of new ideas and creative inspiration.

In my current work I am interested in exploring how clay body and glaze application work in conjunction with line to elevate form and shape. Ideally, the way the glaze interacts with the clay body and carved lines should enhance the angles, curves, and overall form of the object.
