Private Events (Claydates)

Make your next celebration, team event, or scout gathering unforgettable with a private claydate at Mud Clay Studio! Whether you're planning a birthday party, team-building activity, girls' night out, or scout badge event, we offer unique hands-on pottery experiences for groups of all ages.

Choose from pottery wheel throwing, hand-building, or our signature mixed ceramic experience. BYOB for adult events! All private claydates include dedicated instruction, materials, glazing, and firing.

Preferred days and times: Thursdays or Fridays at 7pm, Saturdays at 1, 4 or 7pm, or Sundays at 4pm (varies by event type)

Guests who arrive late will miss important instructions—please allow extra time for traffic.

We book weeks in advance, so please provide multiple date options when reaching out!

Kids Handbuilding Claydate

Ages 8 and above | 10-20 guests | 2 hours

Party guests will learn scoring & slipping techniques to create awesome handbuilt projects that start out as pinch pots. These can become almost anything—a custom mug, cartoon character, or whatever they imagine! Guests will also create a group project as a birthday gift.

What to Bring: Pizza, cake, paper goods, and decorations

Timing: Friday, 4pm; Saturday or Sunday, 1pm or 4pm (depending on availability). Pickup in 5 weeks.

Pricing: $450 for up to 10 guests, $35 per additional guest (max 20)

Parents, please drop off and pick up—space is limited!

Teen Wheel Birthday Claydate

7th Grade and above | 6-16 guests | 2.5 hours

Party guests will try the potter's wheel three times. Pottery is tricky—we can't guarantee every piece will be successful, but we'll try our hardest to help you create wonderful works of art!

What to Bring: Pizza, cake, paper goods, and decorations

Timing: Friday, 4pm; Saturday or Sunday, 1pm or 4pm (depending on availability). Pickup in 5 weeks.

Pricing: $450 for up to 6 guests, $65 per additional guest (max 16)

Pottery Wheel Team Building Claydate

6-20 guests | 2.5-3 hours

Each participant gets two tries on the wheel. In addition to individual projects, your team will work together to create a theme-based multi-tile project to display at the workplace. The size of your team determines the size of the final project.

Pricing: $630 for up to 6 guests, $105 per additional guest (max 20)

Hand Building Team Building Claydate

6-20 guests | 2 hours

Guests learn the basics of handbuilding techniques by making memorable individual clay creations. In addition to individual projects, your team will work together to create a theme-based multi-tile project to display at the workplace.

Private Pottery Wheel Claydate

6-20 guests | 2.5-3 hours | BYOB

Our signature mixed ceramic experience! Begin with a quick intro to hand building—learn pinching, coils, textures, and scoring & slipping to create a clay masterpiece. Then watch a detailed demo of the potter's wheel and get 2 tries to create something (we'll help you A LOT...call us Patrick Swayze!).

Choose your glaze colors and we'll take care of the rest. Pickup in 5 weeks!

Pricing: $630 for up to 6 guests, $105 per additional guest (max 20)

Private Hand Building Claydate

8-20 guests | 2 hours | BYOB

Perfect for a slightly less messy evening out with friends! Create handbuilt projects using pinching, coiling & slab building techniques. Choose from one of our signature projects that you can all do together, or each work individually making whatever you can imagine (with our help of course).

NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY. No use of wheel.

Choose your glaze colors and we'll take care of the rest. Pickup in 5 weeks!

Pricing: $500 for up to 8 guests, $60 per additional guest (max 20)

Girl & Boy Scout Handbuilding Claydate

2nd grade and older | 10-20 scouts | 1.25 hours

Earn your pottery badge! Learn how to make a successful handbuilt project based on a pinch pot, using scoring & slipping techniques to create something awesome. Pinch pots can become almost anything—a custom mug or a cartoon character!

Scouts choose two colors for their projects, our staff takes care of the rest, and leaders pick up all pieces several weeks after the event.

Pricing: $350 for up to 10 scouts, $35 each additional (max 20)

Girl & Boy Scout Pottery Wheel Claydate

7th grade and older | 5-16 scouts | 2-2.5 hours

Just like our adult Signature Claydate! Attendees create one handbuilding piece and get two tries on the wheel.

Projects will be ready to pick up in several weeks.

Pricing: $350 for up to 5 scouts, $55 each additional (max 16)

Reservation & Cancellation Policy

  • All claydates require a $100 reservation deposit (refundable up to 7 days ahead)
  • The remainder is due on the day of the event, based on the confirmed number of guests
  • You must confirm your final headcount at least 3 days in advance
  • Final total is based on confirmed number (not attendance) to ensure proper staffing
  • Last minute guest cancellations will not affect the total
