Clay Artist | Teacher
Miriam loves working with clay because when it is perfectly centered, spinning on the wheel in her hands at high speed, the world disappears. That feeling of focus keeps her grounded in the important creative expression of her work, and the clarity it affords keeps her grounded in life.
Miriam started taking classes with Melanie a number of years ago after "outgrowing" other studio spaces. She was immediately drawn to the Mud vibe, community atmosphere and camaraderie.
She believes that nothing beats being surrounded by a motley crew of creative people who inspire, mentor and lift each other up. Beginners learn and grow, those more-seasoned help teach, and we all have fun getting messy and making friends along the way.
In her teaching, Miriam’s goal is to teach the easiest, most fool-proof methods of creating functional pottery pieces. She teaches with a positive, encouraging can-do attitude, without striving for perfection. Perfect is boring!
