Daily Hand Building Workshops

Hand Building is when you create pottery without using a wheel, more like sculpting from a ball of clay! It's hands-on, creative, and a great way to make something totally unique.

Come play with clay! Join our daily Hand Building sessions to make whatever you can dream up, or try a Weekend Workshop for extra guidance and inspiration. Appointments are preferred.

Need inspiration? Check out ideas on Pinterest! Try searching "pinch pots," "coil pots," or "hand building clay projects." Just remember, some designs may take more than one session to complete.

Have a Larger Project in Mind? Prices may vary. Please reach out to discuss your idea by emailing us and include photos if possible.

You choose the glaze, and the staff glazes it for you. Finished pieces will be picked up in 5 weeks.

Ages

  • Recommended for ages 7 and up
  • Drop kids off or stay and create with them, whichever you prefer!
  • Adults are also welcome to sign up and create on their own.
  • Ages 5–6 may need a lot of parental help and may lose interest quickly
  • Not ideal for artists under age 5

What to Expect

Create whatever you want (within reason — our friendly Mud Staff will guide you)!

  • A quick demo on how to work with clay
  • Studio "rules" and helpful tips
  • Guidance to help you make a fun, functional, or sculptural piece you'll be proud of

Note: You will not use a pottery wheel during this session.

Pricing

$40 per project (includes up to 2 lbs of clay). Payment is due when you make your reservation.

Need more clay? Add extra at $5 per ½ lb.
Can't decide what to make? Try one of our Weekend Workshops!

Reservations & Cancellations

  • You may cancel or reschedule up to 6 hours before your session.
  • Late cancellations may prevent others from booking a spot.
  • There is a $10 cancellation fee.
  • Want to add a guest? Call or email to see if we can fit them in.
  • Running late or early? Please call the studio — sessions are time-specific.

Return to Paint

At the end of your session, you can choose to:

  1. Have the studio dip-glaze your piece in a color combo of your choice (included)
  2. Return to paint it yourself with our full color selection (+$40)

Pick-Up Info

Your project will be ready for pickup in about 5 weeks.

Clay can be unpredictable — we can't guarantee every piece will survive the firing process perfectly. But the fun is in making it!
