Clay Artist | Teacher
Izzy fell in love with clay at Mud in August 2020. As a high school art teacher, she was responsible for writing her district’s curriculum for a ceramics class so she signed up for her first clay class in Boonton, and the rest, as they say, is history. Izzy loves working with clay because “it is a tangible release of emotion. It’s the only art form that doesn’t actually need any tools between you and the medium, and it grounds me, literally, as I play with mud.” Her work often focuses on nature, the feminine struggle, and her own personal experiences.
Izzy has been teaching art for over 12 years with experience at all age levels. She values being a part of a clay community for the descriptive feedback it provides from peers, whether learning from seasoned artists or getting the fresh perspective of someone new. She uses her own experience of learning clay at Mud to teach her students. She endeavors to create a positive and enjoyable art experience.
